Welcome To Northampton Junior Chess Club

About Us

The club primarily caters for young people aged 8 to 16, although younger children may join (at the club's discretion) if a parent/carer attends with them.

Young people aged 16-17 who can play are also welcome as mentors, and adult coaches/helpers are also needed; in either case, please get in touch for further details.

Coaching and training sessions are available at all levels, in large groups, small groups, and also one-to-one, to help players improve their ability. Each player's ability is measured via a grading system, to help track progress, and to assist with matching opponents of similar ability.

Members are also ranked by ability, and regular competitions are run for each rank, with prizes at the end for the top players in each rank, so even beginners have the opportunity to win prizes.

The club also encourages and organises attendance of local, regional, and national chess events and tournaments throughout the year.

Please check the website of Northampton Junior Chess Club for more information.
